The
primary responsibility of a chaperone for the Heard County Band
is to ensure the safety of band members. Other duties will
include helping with the supervision of students, moving
equipment, among other things.
These are basic
guidelines for away football games.
- When
acting as an official chaperone of the band, you may not
bring other children with you. 100% of your attention is
needed for the band members.
- You
will need to ride the bus with the band and assist with
loading and unloading students.
- You
will need to take roll on the bus.
- We will
need help supervising the restroom and concession stand
areas at away games.
- You may
need to handle emergencies like sick or injured students.
- We’ll
need you to help carry stuff into and out of the stadium.
Maybe for half- time as well.
- Being
under the influence, or in possession of, alcohol or drugs
is strictly prohibited.
- Smoking
is not permitted in front of students.
- In
general, the students shouldn’t require someone to watch
their every move. However, if you see something suspicious,
observe a student violating rules, or inappropriate
behavior, you are to advise Mrs. Heard or Mrs. Barnard
immediately. We will appropriately handle the situation.
-
Students are expected to treat chaperones respectfully. And
vice versa. If a student treats you in any kind of a
disrespectful manner, report it to Mrs. Heard or Mrs.
Barnard immediately.
About “paying to get
in”………………
Generally, when you are a chaperone of the band,
schools do not charge you admission for the game. However, some
schools are very strict about the number of “freebies” they
allow. They may have some kind of a rule such as one chaperone
to twenty students. In that case, you will need to be sure to
report it to the boosters if you’d like to be reimbursed for it.
